Translation Project
I ventured into my attic and discovered that I do indeed still own one of the James Blish adaptations of the original Star Trek series. It appears to be the first volume as the succeeding books were numbered by volume.
I'm going to make the attempt to translate this volume into Esperanto. I like Trek, and this will give me the opportunity to to standardize the scifi terminology used in Star Trek.
Here's the rub. I'd like to have a mentor or two in this exercise to keep an eye on things and assure I'm not just fuŝ-ing (yes, I meant fuŝ-ing) the whole thing up.
Poking around YouTube, I recently got a look at two video based Esperanto Courses. The first one I found quite by accident. The other I actually looked for out of curiosity. I've failed to find any kind of review of these course (on the internet), so here's a few comments from what I saw:
Muzzy en Gondolando
Apparently a group in Poland produced this Esperanto version of Muzzy. It's actually quite good. The sound quality it steady, the video at times looks a bit faded(?) Heck, my daughter (not an Esperanto student) picked up a few terms in casual watching of the videos.
This morning I received an email from someone on the other end of my state asking how she and a few friends can learn Esperanto. She is a junior in High School in southern NJ near Philadelphia. Since I'm going to be away today and I want to say something meaningful to this person, I thought I'd seek advice before responding.

Hieraŭ, ses Esperantistoj el Nov-Ĵerszejo kunvenis por la septembra renkontiĝo, ĉe Panera Bread en Fair Lawn. Estas tre interesa kaj agrablega afero, eĉ por timemaj Esperantistoj! Du el la ĉeestantoj estas japanoj kaj rakontis pri aferoj tie.
Dum la kunveno mi eltrovis ke mi estas elektita prezidanto de nia humila grupo. Kia Afero!
Ni decidis ke la venonta renkontiĝo, por Zamenhof Tago, estos proksime al Princetono por ke Esperantistoj el la suda parto de nia ŝtato povos pli facile ĉeesti. La dato por la renkontiĝo estos la 6an de decembro, la loko estas ankoraŭ trovenda.
Mi ne estas avida komputil-ludanto, sed mia naŭ-jara filino tre amas la ludon 'World of Warcraft' (ankaŭ mia edzino amas kaj ludas ĝin.) Mia filino ludas per multaj (Mmm) rolantoj. Ŝi petas ke mi nomu unu rolanton kaj por tio mi elektis la nomon Sorchisto. Sorchisto estas sorchisto ĉe Aerie Peak.
Ĝis nun neniu demandis pri la nomo, tamen mi petis ŝin informi min se tio okazos.
Ĉu estas aliaj ludantoj de WOW kiu parolas Esperanton?

Can we, as Esperantists, play with Esperanto? I'm not asking if we can, or even should tinker with the mechanics, or word stock, or grammar of our language. I'm asking if we can use Esperanto in our everyday lives as Americans who speak Esperanto.
Hieraŭ nia eta grupo en Nov-Ĵerzejo renkontis en New Brunswick, NJ ĉe la Universitato de Rutgers. Estis kvar partoprenantoj sed eĉ tiu malgranda nombro estas pli ol nulo. Ni kuniĝis en la malfermita manĝovendejo de la Studenta Centro kaj babiladis. Estis tre agrabla afero kaj verŝajne ni faros ĝin refoje ĉar la universitata loko estas senkosta, facile trovebla kaj apude ofertas diversajn manĝaĵojn aĉeteblajn.
Ni laboru kaj esperu,
