E-USA Skype Meetup
Saluton!
Would readers be willing to have a group chat over Skype (voice and/or text) this Friday evening? I'm free almost all afternoon and night, so whenever is good for you working folks... I will suggest a time, just to get us started. How does 6:00 PM Central time work?
Do we want to have a topic? Suggestions welcome.

Apology
I very much apologize, but I won't be able to host this week's meeting. If someone will give their username and be the host, it can still proceed as normal. I'm doing crazy crazy chemistry lab preparation (developing a scheme to isolate tricky cations) and then will be interviewing for admission to a professional Chemistry "fraternity" (just an organization). Wish me luck! I hope the meetup can still go on.

Hope this occurs again.
I missed this one, but I hope that something like this occurs again. I would like to participate in any future meetings.

Meetup
The Skype get-together was fun. For somebody like me, at a considerable distance from other Esperanto-speakers, this helps a lot to shrink our world.
Let's do it again soon!

Friday again?
It would be nice to have a regular time to bump into other Esperantists. Darsi, would you want to "host" another meetup?

Sure!
How about this Friday? At... the same time? 5:00 PM CST? If another time would be better, I'm totally open to suggestions. And for next week, perhaps Monday, I'll write another blog post or something to pick a time for next week. Also... maybe Saturday at noon I'll be on if anyone feels like joining me. That's just to throw another time out there.

Dankon
This was a great idea... I'd like to have chats in the future. It definitely helps me to move away from my typing-only Esperanto brain!

Kontakto
My Skype username is "Darsinja," so if you would all please just open up a chat with me around that time, I'll invite everyone to a group conference. I'm rather excited!

I think this is a great idea.
I'm not sure I can attend, but to meet virtually is a great suggestion, especially for those of us who do not have a local club! Thanks!

The Esperanto club at MIT is
The Esperanto club at MIT is having a gathering/party on Friday, I think from 6:30 to 8pm Eastern. I could set up my Skype and our whole group could join in.

Temo
Oh my heavens, you'll all never believe what happened to me today. A friend commented on "my" Esperanto poster that she saw. I hadn't even decided which poster to *use*! I hastily ran to see it, and lo and behold, a separate Esperanto club had just sprang up, hardly a week after my club became official! I emailed the contact, who was a grad student of Linguistics, and I hope that we can combine forces and really get the ball rolling in Esperantujo over here!
I think I shall have to try to speak on that at our Skype meetup, as soon as I know anything more. :-)

Amazing.
How funny. You sure you didn't somehow influence this person? Well, if you had, then I suppose (s)he would have already contacted you instead of working in isolation. In any case, congratulations!
As to Skype: if time permits, I'll try to join in at 6 CST…

First Contact!
We've corresponded by email (by which I mean, she answered my adrenaline-powered email after a few hours, during which I checked it several dozen times) and tomorrow I'm having the incipience of my group join her group's first meeting. We'll probably merge in some ways and perhaps have her in charge of some things and my group in charge of others, but either way we both agreed to work together. She seems really nice--I can't wait to meet her in person. Also, a decent number of my friends are willing to come last-minute. It should be a fun turnout. I'll keep you all posted!
Edit: I'll try to remember to take pictures as well!

Hysterical
That's *hysterical*! And it goes to what I've been saying to people all along. A lot of people lament how there is no Esperanto activity where they are when it could be that there are two nascent groups just waiting to get started. It also shows how much work we have to do to help people find one another and get organized. I'll look forward to hearing how this all turns out!

See you Friday night!
This sounds like fun...I'm going to try to be there at around 6 or 7 EST. How many people can be included in a Skype conference call? Isn't it only three per Skype connection?
Anyhow, look for me. My Skype name is my name: allanfineberg

Hmmm
Excellent. I saw this on one of its FAQ-type things: "With Skype, you and 24 other people can take part in a conference call." That should do for the most part, I think. :-)

What a great story!
Keep us posted . . . I think you'll have a great experience. Anyone who's already interested enough in Esperanto to initiate a club activity on a university campus is going to be a good match for you.
I have to work Friday evening, though . . . no chance of Skyping in. But it sounds like you've got the potential for a good group already.
