Not sure I'm qualified to write this article as what I've got are ideas, no practical experiences--yet. Seems to me though, that the best way to be involved in school events is to have a child in school.

Now, because of the presumed resistance in the language department against Esperanto, it might be best to approach this from a practical point of view.

Would a science fair allow a project on languages, or better, constructed languages, or straight Esperanto? Can you guide your child in the direction of doing that?

I've asked my wife to teach her 3rd graders a short Esperanto song, which will be sung for the parents in public. Do you have connections, (like you're married to or are a teacher,) that you can convince to introduce some aspect of Esperanto in the classroom? Social studies might be a good place to start.
