How to Find and Enjoy a Local Esperanto Club

There are well over 50 local Esperanto Clubs in the United States. A complete list organized by state can be found at the webpage Local Clubs. You may also be able find local Esperantists by googling for "Esperanto" and your town name.

Local clubs allow you to practice listening and speaking in a friendly, realistic environment. In addition to being fun, one of the great benefits of a club for a beginner is the ability to practice with and learn from experienced Esperanto speakers. You can also share learning materials and ideas. Other members may have Esperanto books and magazines, and seeing them could help you decide which you might like to own.

Typical club activites include formal presentations, group study and practice, planning events, playing games in Esperanto, and simply chatting about whatever in both English and Esperanto. Esperanto speakers tend to be highly-educated, friendly, interesting people, and many are quite talkative and enthusiastic.
