Book: Esperanto, Learning and Using the International Language, David Richardson, Esperanto League for North America, El Cerrito, California, 3rd ed. 2004, 368 pages. ISBN 0-939785-06-4. Available to course participants the first day of class.
Teaching methods: Various, including direct / immersion (Cseh) method, small group practice, dialogs, games, and traditional instruction. Everybody learns differently, so we will try to include a method that touches everybody. This will be a friendly, non-threatening environment for learning.
Responsibilities of students: Show up for class, perform assigned lessons. Try to practice every day but certainly go more than two days in a row without practicing. Bring text, notebook, and pen or pencil to every class. Bring a good attitude and open mind for learning. This is Esperanto! This is fun! This isn't your traditional language class as you might have experienced or imagined for a national language.
Bring to class: Notebook (such as spiral or looseleaf) and pen or pencil.
How to register: Contact the head instructor, Phil Dorcas, or just show up. We will have a couple of extra books for those who have not registered in advance.
Maximum class size: 18.
