Esperanto-USA

I sent a press release to my local newspaper about my trip to the UK in Florence, Italy. I must have done something right, because a reporter contacted me, interviewed me over the phone, and wrote a half-page article about Esperanto. The article was objective, mostly positive, and mentioned the ELNA website.

In my press release, I stressed the fact that I live in Portland [Maine] and that I was the representative from Maine to the World Esperanto Congress (by default, since no other resident of Maine would be going to the congress).

In my opinion, it is critical to give the press release a local slant. Newspapers are unabashedly parochial, probably because their readers are also.
