Adding insult to injury?

If this story from Libera Folio is for real, then Radio Polonia's Esperanto broadcasts have ended under dark clouds coming from their parent organization, Polskie Radio — and in particular from PR's Jerzy Targalski:

"Se Pollando elsendu en Esperanto pro tio ke gxi fieras pri Zamenhof, tiam ankaux Israelo devas elsendi en Esperanto."

Needless to say, it's not my idea of a "Kio okazaaas!" — especially not on the day of Zamenhof's birthday. Plus… it is now Chanukah time.

Libera Folio's source is an article that was published in Gazeta Wyborcza.
(Note: the original article contains some errors which I understand aren't from the E–o translation.)

I really can't let myself speculate on how much damage these comments could do or have done. But I am certain that the now–dismissed Esperanto staff at Radio Polonia stepped out into the cold air with far more dignity than the people who showed them the door.

(Update 2006–12–18: It appears that Polskie Radio had some sort of "change of heart" at the last minute, and there was in fact a broadcast the very next day — although not without its problems, and not reported until Sunday on Libera Folio. The same website also notes that Polskie Radio wiped out the Esperanto section of their site except for the streaming audio page. I've written a new post on what has happened since Friday the 15th.)
