Looking for practice in all the odd places

Philip David Morgan's picture

Last year, I announced that I would try to make some short videos in Esperanto about my area (the Long Island/New York City area). That little project is now on hold at the moment, because I'm not happy with my work thus far. Of the two ideas I was working on last year, at least one of them might be salvaged eventually.

In the meantime, it looks like I might take my cue from Emilio Cid, and practice translating and subtitling short films — except that my source material will come from the public domain offerings over at the Internet Archive, and in particular from the Prelinger library. I've found three films that might be suitable for practice, so I will let everybody know how things go.

In the meantime, I am waiting for some Edwin Grobe books (both originals and translated works) from ELNA. I've realized that I need to read and expose myself more to the work of Esperantists in my own nation. (I'm already a faithful Cxie Tie Nun listener — but I thrive on reading Esperanto, too.)
