Join Esperanto-USA and the Canadian Esperanto Association this summer as we celebrate the international language. Our combined National Congress will be held at Seattle Pacific University in Seattle, Washington, from the evening of Friday, July 13, until midday Monday, July 16. The program will have sessions for both experienced and novice speakers, and will include both presentations and hands-on activities.
We’re excited to announce that Chuck Smith will be giving a keynote speech about the congress theme, Building and Enjoying an Esperanto Community. As the co-creator of Duolingo’s Esperanto course and the app Amikumu, Chuck is one of the best-known figures in the world of Esperanto today. In these and other endeavors, he’s embodied the spirit of the international language by using it to bring people together. There will also be a talk by Dr. Federico Gobbo, professor of Interlinguistics and Esperanto at the University of Amsterdam, Netherlands.
What about the rain? In the summer, Seattle enjoys sunny and mild weather; last July, no rain was recorded. We plan to take make the most of it with excursions during the congress and a post-congress camping trip in Mount Rainer National Park, July 16-19.
In the coming months we’ll provide more details about the whole program – including more guests to be announced – on the congress website. There you can also see who’s already signed up and find a link to our Facebook event.
Want to contribute? We’re looking for speakers, musicians, activity leaders, and other volunteers. If you’re interested, send an email to firstname.lastname@example.org.
Registration is now open in the online store of E-USA. Don’t delay: rates increase April 1!
