Privacy Policy

This privacy notice discloses the privacy practices for Esperanto-USA. This privacy notice applies solely to information collected by this organization. It will notify you of the following:

  1. What personally identifiable information is collected from you, how it is used and with whom it may be shared.
  2. What choices are available to you regarding the use of your data.
  3. The security procedures in place to protect the misuse of your information.
  4. How you can correct any inaccuracies in the information.

Information Collection, Use, and Sharing

When you register to become a member of Esperanto-USA, we collect some personally identifiable information from you in order to better support you as a member of the Esperanto community. We request information including your first and last name, street address, city and zip code, email address, and phone number.

We only have access to/collect information that you voluntarily give us via direct contact from you. We will not sell or rent this information to any person or business entity. We will not share any personally identifiable information about you without your permission.

If you contact us, we will use your information to respond to you regarding the reason you contacted us. We will not share your information with any third party outside of our organization, other than as necessary to fulfill your request, e.g. to ship an order. If your request requires us to share your information with a third party within our organization, we will request your permission before sharing.

We request information from you on our order form. To buy from us, you must provide contact information (such as your name and shipping address) and financial information (such as credit card number, expiration date). This information is used for billing purposes and to fill your orders. If we have trouble processing an order, we will use this information to contact you.

Unless you ask us not to, we may contact you via email in the future to provide you with services such as our newsletter or to share with you announcements, changes to this privacy policy, or other important information related to Esperanto-USA. Unless you ask us not to, the Executive Director may confirm to a third-party whether you are a member in good standing or were previously a member.

If you ask us to share your contact information in a local group listing, we will share only the information that you requested be shared. In such a case, this information will be shared on the Esperanto-USA website, along with other local group listings. Esperanto-USA or a representative thereof will contact you periodically to confirm that you still want this same information shared in this way. If you choose to no longer share this information, please contact Esperanto-USA immediately at the phone number and/or email address listed below.

  • See what data we have about you, if any.
  • Change/correct any data we have about you.
  • Have us delete any data we have about you.
  • Express any concern you have about our use of your data.
  • Change or revoke your permission for us to share data about you.

Security

We take precautions to protect your information. When you submit sensitive information to us, your information is protected both online and offline.

Wherever we collect sensitive information (such as credit card data), that information is encrypted and transmitted to us in a secure way. You can verify this by looking for a lock icon in the address bar and looking for “https” at the beginning of the address of the Web page.

While we use encryption to protect sensitive information transmitted online, we also protect your information offline. Only employees who need the information to perform a specific job (for example, billing or customer service) are granted access to personally identifiable information. The computers/servers in which we store personally identifiable information are kept in a secure environment.

In the unlikely case of a security breach, we will contact you immediately and advise how to proceed further.

If you feel that we are not abiding by this privacy policy or have concerns regarding how Esperanto-USA handles privacy, you should contact us immediately via email at eusa@esperanto-usa.org.
