About
The first American Good Film Festival began with an announcement video on March 1, 2021 and the submission deadline was two months later on May 1, 2021. Films were accepted in any genre, but they had to be less than five minutes long and entirely in Esperanto with at least 10 unique spoken words. In addition, a cup of coffee was required to appear, at least briefly, in each film. Five board members of Esperanto-USA served as judges for the contest since board members were not allowed to compete. The success of the first two contests in 2021 led to Esperantic Studies Foundation financially supporting the competition the following year which doubled the size of the prizes.
