There was a lot of good stuff at the LK, but I think Arika
Okrent's speech was up there near the top. What I like about her is that she doesn't mock or ridicule Esperanto or the Esperanto-speaking community. But she does know us and our language very well. She clearly finds us amusing (we find ourselves amusing), and she seems to see us as the slightly daffy relatives that she spends some time with occasionally.
And her view of Esperanto and its place in today's world?
Pretty much on target, I think.
