To strengthen U.S. participation in international Esperanto events, we will subsidize the sponsorship of active and responsible representations of the U.S. at IJK and UK 2026.
For this, we are ready to support up to 500 U.S. dollars for each selected candidate. Applications will be accepted until April 15th, and results will be published on May 1st.
Duties of the selected candidates
Selected candidates must:
- fully and actively attend the relevant congress (UK August 1-8, 2026 | IJK August 9-16, 2026)
- participate in committee meetings:
- at IJK: participate in TEJO committee meetings (one candidate may possibly serve as a voting committee member)
- at UK: participate in UEA committee meetings as an observer
- represent the U.S. during the Movement Fair or equivalent events, including:
- organizing materials at the table
- staying at the table during most of the fair
- conversing with visitors
- collaborate with the Central Office to arrange the transportation of materials to the Movement Fair or similar events
- in the case of two scholars, collaborate as a team
- after the congress, write or co-write a detailed report for the board, focusing on U.S. participation and experiences in the committee meetings
- after the congress, write an article for Usona Esperantisto about the overall experience at the congress
Necessary conditions to apply
Candidates must:
- fulfill the requirements defined in part X of our bylaws
- possess a high language level of Esperanto (at least C1 or equivalent), as the role will require active participation in committee discussions
- be ready to represent the U.S. responsibly and professionally
- be a current member of E-USA
- be a current member of UEA
Factors considered during the election
During the election process, we will consider, among other things:
- whether the candidate has previously participated in the relevant event (those who have never participated before will be prioritized)
- whether the candidate has a language level certified by a certificate
- whether the candidate will help represent the diversity of the U.S. (we will strive to create as diverse a team as possible)
- whether the candidate represents the targeted age group (for IJK, this is under 35 years old)

The motivation letter must:
- explain your motivation to apply
- describe your activity in the Esperanto movement
- describe how you plan to represent the U.S. during the congress
- be written without the use of Large Language Models
