As a daily "home user" of Esperanto, I frequently bump into the problem of expressing something I've never discussed in Esperanto. This is especially true when proper brand names are used in conversation. Sometimes, I have to just express the word in English, which will by extension mean occasional word combinations from both languages, such as referring to the caretakers on a cruise ship as the "Fun Factory-istoj," or my last car as the "(Pontiac) Montana-aĉo"
Saluton, karaj!
Esperanto@UIUC, our local group in Champaign, IL and a registered student organization at the University of Illinois, is busy busy busy. I think we have somewhere around 9 new members who will be coming to the beginner meetings, as well as a very active and dedicated group of about 10 advanced speakers of the language. We now have weekly beginner lessons (consist mainly of reading and translating "Gerda Malaperis") and weekly advanced discussion tables. So far, we've chatted at the discussion tables, watched Russian cartoons with Esperanto subtitles, and played games. I love it--it's a tradition to stay. We'll see how it grows.
Let me tell you loud and clear: we want to bring everyone we can to the LK this year. There is the interest, there is the dedication, but the money is difficult to procure. This week we're having our first bake sale. There will be cookies, hot cocoa, and perhaps necklaces and bracelets with Valentine's day-themed Esperanto phrases on them. I'm willing to have as many bake sales as it takes to get these great young minds to the LK, but I fear bake sales alone are not enough.

Subject to the limits of human frailty, I endeavor to extend my knowledge to encompass all that is worthy. Learning Esperanto was in important way-point on this journey, and now has led me into a new realm, the study of Latin.
Afable,
Mike Jones

Once again my work life (two jobs, as with so many others in the world) has interfered with my Esperanto studies and plans. I was finally able to force a break to visit lernu!, which I hadn't done in a while... and I was pleasantly surprised to see one special component of the 2010 Summer Esperanto Study this July in Slovakia: a "Instigi Kreemon" (inspire creativity) seminar:

Huffington Post has this funny article. It's ridiculing some aspects of the film industry. It's satire, about a scurrilous plot to replace English with Esperanto as the "international language."

Here is a document, relating to Esperanto, that I just uploaded to my ipernity account. (When visiting my ipernity account, remember that I use the name “Michael Esperanto Jones”.)
On Negation in Chinglish
Negation, even under ideal circumstances, can be a tricky matter, as exemplified by the ambiguity of the sentence:
“The bicycle is not new and registered.”
Is the bicycle registerd?
The basic and pro accounts in ipernity
Ipernity offers free basic membership, but it does not come with download capability. That is, you cannot download documents uploaded to ipernity by other ipernity members. However, for a yearly subscription fee, you get download capability. Those who pay the subscription fee are known in ipernity as “pro” members (and the “pro” logo is displayed in their ipernity space).
Esperanto as the royal road to English
At my ipernity account, I have started an on-going test of English, with questions along the lines of TOEFL or IELTS. It consists of multiple-choice questions. The unique feature is that the test is in Esperanto. So, this is, moreover, along the lines of “springboard to languages”. Thus, those who have taken the advice to learn Esperanto before English, or at least in parallel with English, have this additional English-strengthening resource at their disposal.
